“I’ve been using You Better Mind as a working title,” said Texas Hobart in an email to Avocado Rabbit as the pair exchanged songs back and forth in this acoustic blues mix. “That works for me,” was the reply and, simple as that, a title was born. Nothing very clever or profound. It just seemed right, and so did this mix. We hope you feel the same.

As Blind Willie McTell once said, “The blues ain’t nothin’ but a good man feelin’ bad.” What more can you say? It’s the blues, and if you’re feeling bad it will make you feel, well … better.

Tex Hobart and Doowad are mixing together for the second time, though we felt this time we achieved a higher level of mutual appreciation.

Tex was so inspired by Doowad & strange loop’s most recent MAS production that he sent Doowad his own FTHOI/WTF mix. One thing led to another and they decided to make a new alt-dj, but with the traditional ping-pong and trying to avoid both of their usual suspects®.

We put this together in 24 hours of emails, going with our gut instincts in all but one case. And quite by accident, a few of these turned out to be covers, though the Avett Brother’s song is not a cover. We hope you enjoy it as much as we did bringing it to you...

Good evening folks, and welcome to the latest installment of the Mutual Appreciation Society. I am your host, Funky Ratchet.

I have always been a big admirer of Texas Hobart's blues, folk, and country mixes, so I jumped at the opportunity to do a mix with him. The picture served as our inspiration - the final panel from "The Willowdale Handcar" by Edward Gorey. If you know anything at all about either of our music tastes, it shouldn't be hard to figure out who's odds and who's evens; I just hope the couple of curveballs I threw in served to further the atmosphere we were going for, rather than disrupt it.
